Some people may call this method crazy, but that's okay! We are all about thinking outside the box and using what you have on this channel.

We recently swapped from a 258 carbureted engine to a fuel injected 4L engine on our Jeep project, so we had to install an electric fuel pump. The traditional methods of doing this include either a custom fuel tank (talk about expensive!) or a frame mounted fuel pump.

The frame mounted option wasn't viable because there was no place to mount it on the frame that would be lower than the fuel level, which would lead to the fuel pump overworking trying to pull the fuel out of the tank. This can significantly shorten the life of an electric fuel pump.

Rather than cutting a huge hole in our fuel tank and making a custom sending unit, we decided to try modifying the factory fuel sending unit instead.

In this video we walk you through the entire process of how we rebuilt the sending unit for the EFI conversion, and share the resources we used to get it done.
