Cornell Extension of Suffolk County celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month!
September 15 - October 15

The time to honor the cultures of those who come from Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Spain. Latinx families and individuals are joined by food for celebration, or to seek strength for a loved one. This year has brought an extra layer of caring for the community as we continue to support a healthy lifestyle through these difficult times.

Through nutrition education, food demonstrations and virtual learning, we empower communities and the amazing staff of volunteers that dedicate endless hours to feed thousands of families throughout Long Island, many of them of Latinx heritage.

This video shows a combined effort from Springs Community Food Pantry and Cornell Extension of Suffolk County to meet these common goals and bridge the gap of food insecurity. With a Policy, Systems and Environmental approach (PSE's) that encourages a setting towards healthier food choices and a unique community experience.

¡La Extensión Cooperativa de Cornell del Condado de Suffolk celebra el Mes Nacional de la Herencia Hispana!

Es el momento de honrar las culturas de los que vienen de México, América Central y del Sur, el Caribe y España. Las familias e individuos latinos suelen unirse a través de las comidas para celebraciones, o para buscar fortaleza para un ser querido. Este año, ha traído una capa adicional de cuidado para la comunidad a medida que continuamos apoyando un estilo de vida saludable durante estos tiempos difíciles.

A través de la educación nutricional, las demostraciones de alimentos y el aprendizaje virtual, empoderamos a las comunidades y al increíble personal de voluntarios que dedican horas interminables para alimentar a miles de familias en Long Island, muchas de ellas de herencia latina.

Este video muestra un esfuerzo combinado del Springs Community Food Pantry y la Extensión Cooperativa de Cornell en Suffolk para cumplir con estos objetivos en común, y así romper la brecha de inseguridad alimentaria. Esto se logra con un enfoque de políticas, sistemas y de medio ambiente que fomenta un entorno hacia opciones de alimentos más saludables y una experiencia comunitaria única.
