This summer has been a feast of sport which has been an excellent distraction for me.

As I recover from my first operation (a small bowel resection to remove a neuroendocrine tumour), and await my liver resection surgery, I have been getting involved with hours of sport watching on the television.

I've watched England lose in the final of the European football championships, Djokovic reign supreme at Wimbledon, and Mark Cavendish resurrect his career in The Tour de France.

It's been wonderful.

I also have a date to aim towards for my next surgery. Until then I'll continue watching sport!
