Geranium is an aromatic plant. If the work of agriculture is done from a commercial point of view, then good profit can be earned from it. But still, most of the farmers in India have been cultivating traditional crops. One can earn lakhs of rupees by cultivating Geranium plants. Geranium being an aromatic plant is also called the rose of the poor. Oil is extracted from the leaves, which is used for many uses along with medicine. Geranium oil smells like a rose. It is used in making aromatherapy, cosmetics, perfumes, and scented soaps. However, in India, especially in Western Maharashtra traditional crops like sugarcane are being grown on a large scale. The reasons are many. In this part, the cultivation of Geranium is done on an experimental basis. If the yields are beneficial, the message regarding its cultivation can be spread. It can become a better option for the farming community who have less water and uncertain climatic conditions. The video shows how the plants have been brought, expertise obtained and finally cultivation done in Usman Estate. This is an experiment purely to see, if the plant can grow well and give optimum income to the farmers. Let us hope all ends well…!
