KBase along with Colorado State Microbiome (CoSMic) Network and the National Microbiome Data Collaborative (NMDC) presented a two day workshop at ISME19 from 16-17 August, 2024.

This workshop covers multi-omics methods relevant to microbial ecology studies with an emphasis on open-access tools and datasets. Barriers to multi-omics research include accessibility of computational infrastructure, technical knowledge to implement multi-software workflows, and resources available to help with both. The open-access KBase platform enables participants to analyze public data using cutting-edge tools, including those developed by CoSMic, and connect it to the sample metadata supported by the National Microbiome Data Collaborative NMDC.

Day 1 Presenters:
Mikayla Borton, Colorado State University
Byron Crump, Oregon State University
Ben Allen, Oak Ridge National Laboratory
Kelly Wrighton, Colorado State University

00:00 - Introduction
04:25 - Genome Resolved Open Watersheds database (GROWdb)
08:56 - The Chemistry and Microbiology of the Congo River
14:43 - Introduction to KBase
38:56 - Introduction to Metagenomics
1:14:38 - Metagenomics in KBase
