A few months back I got a session offer to track drums for this cover of "Bombing Mission" (from #FinalFantasy 7) by a gentleman named Erik Grimell. I'd never even heard the original version of the song at the time, but the demo he made sounded sick, & I had just enough time to squeeze in learning / tracking one additional song. So I took the session, & HERE IT IS!

I'm not gonna lie ya'll - I've never even played a Final Fantasy game, & I have absolutely no idea what they're about. I just thought it was a rad tune, & since I could fit it in along with everything else I had goin' on, figured why not. It's my understanding that this game has been re-released recently (which I believe is what prompted Erik to do the cover), & a whole bunch of people seem really stoked about it. If YOU are one of those people & were already familiar with this song, I hope you dig it! If you're not... well, I hope you enjoy it anyway! (LOL)

Lastly - Erik had engineer named Andre Alvinzi handle the mix. Andre chose to blend samples into the drums (which is fairly obvious, in my opinion). Ya'll already know that I personally prefer a more natural sound (well, heavily processed, but natural none the less), especially for drum videos (!). But with session work, I leave it entirely up to the artist / engineer. It's their song, & I am essentially doing a job. So I let them do whatever makes them happiest. That said, I always like to keep it transparent with you all, so if there's ever any sample blending / replacement like there is here, I will say so in the video description. & I'm not hating on the mix (for the record!), it surely sounds great! Just a bit less organic than my stuff normally sounds.

Plus, I take a lot of pride in always getting the best natural drum sounds that I possibly can, & quite enjoy the process. So I had to make note of all that. Andre still did a killer job of course, & the end result is rad!
