September 11th was one of the darkest days in American history that ironically began as a clear sunny day. To add to the irony, this day came as a sunny relief to the stormy weather of September 10th.

It was the beginning of New York Fashion Week. JLo and Ja Rule’s “I’m Real” sat at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Competition reality TV mainstay The Amazing Race had just premiered the week before and NBC’s Must See TV line up, led by a plethora of shows based in New York City, was the television delight of millions. And the soundtrack for Mariah Carey’s critically panned romantic musical drama, Glitter, had just been released.

Up until 8:45 AM, it was just another day. And just seconds later, nothing would ever be or feel the same again.
