The National Museum of African-American History & Culture is a true gem. But beyond giving us the history of Black people in the US, our fight for civil rights, our emancipation from slavery, our sports, literary, and entertainment triumphs, there's also a huge section on the evolution of the way we speak and OUR language.
This museum showcases parts of our language that originates from the jazz tradition, from Gullah Geechee indigenous language, from rap and blues music, from our beloved African-American authors, and even from the African diaspora in Brazil, The Caribbean and Central America.
