Uluwatu Temple, locally known as Pura Luhur Uluwatu (with Luhur meaning ‘something of divine origin’) is one of the most popular spots if you’re embarking on a cultural journey of the region and provides a true slice of Balinese culture. 

It’s renowned for its magnificent location. Perched atop a steep cliff approximately 70 metres above the crashing ocean below, it makes for the most beautiful backdrop at sunset.

Nearby Temple you’ll find an abundance of native monkeys. In local culture, they are believed to guard the temple against bad influences, but If given the opportunity, they can and will grab some of your small belongings specifically take care of your spectacle goggles hats caps, and keep your valuables in a sealed bag or pockets at all times. They are expert in removing goggles as it happened with me. once they take goggles they will run away and start eating and spoiling your goggles.

The best time to experience Uluwatu Temple is in the evening when the sun goes down to create a wonderful spectrum of colours behind this ancient relic
