Lost my ride video shot with the DJI Action 4 due to FUNCTIONAL MODULE MALFUNCTION, according to DJI. Had the unit still not under warranty, and without Care Refresh Plan , I would have to pay $220 for the repair.
The camera also become very hot to the touch when I removed it from the mount to check the footage.
This Action 4 never overheat when I used it in the last 8 months.
The Action 4 I own was never mishandled, dropped, or abused in any way.
It has always been kept in a secure carrying case (See link below for case), and have been functioning perfectly until this trip.
I had an issue with my Insta360 R 4K in the past where the unit turned into a brick after I updated the firmware. The Insta360 overheat and stopped recording for good.
That taught me a lesson to always buy and extend the care refresh plan for these little cameras.
DJI was very professional and their chat assistant was easy to get a hold of and top notch on taking care of the issue. That is why I will stick to this brand for all my video recording tools.
