In this educational video, Dr. Rahil Chaudhary, an expert Cataract & Refractive Surgeon and Managing Director of Eye7 Eye Hospitals, delves into the subject of the different types of lens designs currently utilized in modern cataract surgery procedures.

He provides a detailed look into the Trifocal Design of Lenses (IOL) and its benefits and disadvantages.
Later in the video, he also demonstrates a near-live cataract surgery done with the latest Artificial Intelligence Technology and he uses a trifocal design of IOL named "Tecnis Synergy" by Johnson & Johnson.

✅ Trifocal IOLs: These lenses are quite versatile, offering clear vision at near, intermediate, and far distances. They are a popular choice for those looking to be free from glasses or contact lenses after their cataract surgery. However, it's worth mentioning that some users might notice a decrease in contrast sensitivity and see halos around lights at night.

✅ There are other designs of IOLs as given below:

👉👉 Monofocal IOLs:
These lenses are designed with a single focus power, meaning they help you see clearly at one specific distance, which can be near, intermediate, or far. Most people choose to enhance their far sight with these lenses, but it's important to note that you'll likely need glasses for reading or up-close work.

👉👉Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) IOLs: This is a relatively new advancement in lens technology for cataract treatment. EDOF lenses are designed to provide clear vision at far and intermediate distances, and they also help with near vision to a certain degree. Though you may still need reading glasses for very small text or detailed close-up work, these lenses are celebrated for their ability to increase the range of vision or depth of focus, generally resulting in fewer issues with glare and halos at night compared to other types.

👉👉Toric versions of IOLs: These are specialized lenses designed for individuals with astigmatism, which is a common eye condition that causes blurred vision at any distance.
Toric lenses correct this issue by compensating for astigmatism, and they are available in mono-focal, trifocal, and EDOF versions for those with a cylindrical power greater than 0.75 diopters.

✅Process Of Cataract Surgery

Cataract surgery generally takes 3 days (visits).

DAY 1️⃣ – pre-op screening tests (approx. 2 hours) which involve:
◽ Basic eye check-ups
◽ Biometry- perfect IOL power calculation
◽ Blood Pressure (BP), Blood Sugar test and E.C.G.

DAY 2️⃣ – Surgery (30 minutes in surgery, approx. 2 hours overall, in clearing discharge formalities and paperwork)

DAY 3️⃣ – Follow Up Check-Up (Approx. 1 hour)
