(6) DIY Villa Renovation in Sicily, Italy: Cleaning, Fixing Rusty Windows & Prepping the Bathroom

This week, I tackled a range of challenging but rewarding tasks to bring my Sicilian villa one step closer to being a dream home! Join me as I take on some major cleaning, repairs, and general improvements around the house. 💪

🧼 Deep Cleaning the Kitchen Sink: The double kitchen sink was in dire need of attention, filled with rat droppings and grime. Using my trusty pressure sprayer with disinfectant, I sanitized and scrubbed every inch of it, bringing it back to life! The results were amazing, and it’s now looking as good as new. 🌟

🐀 Unexpected Find in the P-Trap: While tightening the sink's drain hole covers and the P-trap underneath, I discovered something unexpected—a dead baby rat! 😬 It wasn’t pleasant, but it's all part of this restoration journey.

🔧 Freeing Up the Rusty Bathroom Window: Next, I tackled the bathroom window, which was jammed shut and rusty. Using a metal wire brush and some WD-40, I managed to free it up and added a longer pull cord to make it easier to operate. The window is now fully functional! 🚿

🧽 Disinfecting & Cleaning the Bathroom: I gave the bathroom a deep clean, disinfecting the tiles and scrubbing away all the dirt and rat paw marks. It’s starting to feel much fresher and cleaner, ready for the next stage of the renovation. 🚽

🍴 Taking a Break: After all that hard work, I took a well-deserved lunch break with a delicious sandwich from a local deli. It’s important to enjoy the little things along the way! 🥪

🔨 Removing Old Nails & Screws: I then removed all the nails, screws, and hooks from the walls in every room, making sure the villa is ready for the next phase of renovation.

🌿 Checking Out My Olive Trees: I took a moment to show my olive trees in the back garden—they’re such a beautiful feature of this property and add to the authentic Sicilian charm. 🫒

🧹 Cleaning Windows & Wooden Doors: Finally, I brushed down and cleaned all the window glass, leaving them shiny and spotless. I also cleaned all the internal wooden doors, giving them a fresh, polished look. 🚪✨

👉 Next Week's Plans: I wrapped up this productive week with an outro and shared my plans for next week's renovation tasks. There's always more work to be done, and I'm excited to keep pushing forward!
