We sat down with Ben Shneiderman to discuss his illustrious career. He is a paragon of computer science whose accomplishments have changed the world.

While a professor at University of Maryland, College Park, he developed the hyperlink, touchscreen, and photo tagging, and has been cited 84,000 times. His books are award-winning and have been translated into six languages and reached six editions. Spotfire, Eventflow, NodeXL, and dynamic query sliders are the result of his work in information visualization.

These contributions have earned Shneiderman multiple honorary doctorates, awards, and leadership positions in globally respected organizations.
