On many occasions during Graveyard Ghosts graveyard cemetery visits we come across offerings and alters. Today was one of those experiences. The Goddess Spirit Oya is recognized in several cultures and originated in Nigeria with Yoruba mythology. She was the spirit between life and death and also the spirit of weather: winds, lightning and violent storms. In other cultures, she is associated with Witchcraft, sometimes Black Magic and Santeria. This offering of eggplants may have been left during the recent Hurricane threat here in Florida, but because a 9th eggplant was found on a lone grave, it probably was not. Normally there are 9 eggplants and at the gateway to the cemetery there were 8, but a 9th was later found (see video link below to see where it was and normally a sign of witchcraft).
