I love coming into the classroom and seeing the children and the smiles on their faces. The best part about my job is having these children coming up to me and knowing me by name or having a previous student come up and remember who I am... That's when I know I've had an impact on their life. Betty J Taylor served the Tulalip Elementary School for thirty three years. She actually worked at Tulalip Elementary School and she was very passionate for our tribal children and making them successful. Our academy serves our community and we provide a quality education and we have a culturally rich curriculum that serves ages birth to age five. We work and hand with the LUSHOOTSEED department. We have language warriors that come into the classrooms on a daily basis and they work collaboratively with our teachers and develop a lesson plan and curriculum. Each classroom is different. Each teacher is different. They provide a rich environment with different activities. We love to go on nature walks. Every day is new. There are many reasons why I would recommend someone coming to work at TELA. We have a beautiful state of the art facility. We offer very competitive wages, as well as a very competitive benefits package. We really want someone who loves children and who has a passion and commitment for working here. To be a teacher our minimum requirement is a CDA which is a child development certificate. Our teacher assistant requirements are a GED or high school diploma with previous child care experience. Once you are an employee of TELA, like as an assistant, we can further offer you a CDA course to be able to move up to being a teacher. We are looking for open minded and culturally diverse people to help us achieve our vision and keep our traditions alive.
