In this Part 4 of our exploration of the eastern coastal areas of Davao Oriental in Mindanao, Philippines, we continue telling travel stories of our journey of fun and discovery.

From the upper municipalities of Cateel and Baganga, this time, we travel south to the central municipality of Caraga, one of the ancestral roots of our family on my maternal side.

It had been raining when we left Baganga and the rains would continue to dog us on our first day in Caraga - this being the rainy season; and although it did ruin our trip to Carolina Lake, it didn't stop us from making the most of what the weather was giving us.

Living in a region where rains are a constant, we just have to make lemonades out of a lemon of a day and just embrace the experience.

And one way of doing that is to have a combination of planned trips, back-ups, and going the extra mile for unplanned adventures.

But one of the highlights of this trip for me was getting my broken drone propellers fixed - something that no one in Davao City was able to do! That taught me again to never underestimate anyone or any place.
