His Wedding Night is a 1917 film written and directed by    • Fatty Arbuckle
and starring Fatty Arbuckle and Buster Keaton.

_Synopsis_. Fatty (Roscoe Arbuckle, 0:21), who runs a grocery store, juggles his work between the bar, the perfume counter and the gas station. He's engaged to Alice (Alice Mann, 2:55), the pharmacist's daughter, who readily accepts his proposal (3:32). But the arrival of an overeager rival (Al St. John, 6:05) provokes a brawl in the store, which Fatty wins (7:40). The girl's father, who witnesses the scene, accepts the marriage.
A strange delivery boy (Buster Keaton, 8:07) brings Alice the wedding dress, and, to show her, puts it on (11:34). Meanwhile, the bartender pours chloroform into the perfume samples, fed up with the customers marching in and spraying themselves with it (11:57).
(13:29) Fatty's defeated rival organizes his own kidnapping of the girl, but mistakenly (15:97) kidnaps the delivery boy in his wedding outfit.
(16:56) Aboard a cart pulled by an initially recalcitrant donkey, Fatty and the pharmacist set off in pursuit of the kidnappers. They manage to arrest the criminals, rescue the hostage and are about to celebrate the wedding (18:26), when the girl who caught up with them on her bicycle appears (19:03), revealing the quid pro quo.

Roscoe Arbuckle was the face of the golden age of American burlesque: a star actor at Keystone Studios, his success as Fatty (a derogatory nickname for his corpulence) led to him writing and directing most of his films by 1914.
He was the first to give a chance to the man who considered him his mentor,    • Buster Keaton   in his 1917 film,    • Fatty macellaio (1917) Fatty Arbuckle   .
