I have done a lot of experiments in which the sheep are asked what is the most comfortable situation for you when a dog is walking past. The answer has always been "dog on a short lead please". I guess that the short lead means that sheep can predict exactly how far the dog can roam. But I now know that the combination of dog on short lead walking 'attached' to the UTV is an even better option from a sheep point of view. I'll now investigate this further, but, my initial thought is that this is because the machine adds a layer of predictability that is missing when the lead is in the hands of a human. We shall see.
