World Indoor Champion, Samuel Tefera of Ethiopia 🇪🇹, broke the long-standing world indoor 1500m record at the 2019 #IAAFWorldIndoorTour meeting in Birmingham, 🇬🇧 !

Going into the race, it was Yomif Kejelcha’s target to attack Hicham El Guerrouj’s 22-year-old world record of 3:31.18 after he narrowly missed the 1 Mile WR of 3:48.45 (also set by El Guerrouj) by .01 of second. The Ethiopian 1500m specialist Tefera used the opportunity by sitting right behind Kejelcha and passing him on the final turn to win the race in a new WR of 3:31.04, thanks to Kejelcha’s push.
