This educational video is intended to draw attention to the problem of facilitator cuing in a technique called Facilitated Communication (FC), also known as Spelling to Communicate (S2C) and Rapid Prompting Method (RPM).

In this video, a King5 reporter covers a news story about a family who believes their special needs student is being discriminated against by a school system who will not allow S2C. The reporter included a brief statement by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), but did he go far enough in explaining why ASHA opposes its use?

Edmonds parents say school district is denying special needs son his right to an education:

To date, there is no reliably controlled evidence to prove proponent claims that FC/S2C/RPM is an independent form of communication. In fact, testing shows that it's the facilitators and not their clients who control letter selection during the typing activity.
