Hi!
I’m back in the sewing room today. I’m making a Double 9 Patch quilt block.
This is a classic block. It’s very versatile. You can use this pattern to make an entire quilt, or you can use it as an accent block in many quilt projects.
I trim the block to 12.5 inches square, and it will finish in your quilt at 12 inches square.
You will need to choose a light and a dark fabric. The block consists of four patches cut at 4.5 inches from the light fabric, and then you will make five mini 9 patches from the light and dark fabrics.
I show you how to create two strip sets and then how to measure and cut the strip sets into segments. The segments are then sewn together to form the mini 9 patches.
The mini 9 patches are oversized just a bit. I then show you how to square them up to a perfectly square 4.5 inches.
Finally, the mini 9 patches and squares are arranged to create the block.
For best results, sew the block together using scant 1/4” seam allowances.
I also show you how to press the seams in each step of the process to insure your seams match up beautifully.
Thank you for watching!
