In 2017, the Cologne Male Voice Choir (Kölner Männer-Gesang-Verein, KMGV) celebrated its 175 year anniversary. It was founded in 1842 to raise money to continue building the Cologne Cathedral, a purpose shared with the Zentral-Dombau-Verein (ZDV) that was established at the same time. The anniversary concert on June 24, 2017 was a joint celebration of ZDV and KMGV.

"Lob des Rheins" is a song of praise for the River Rhine, composed by Ernst Fischer in 1956.
