Place Dauphine was created by King Henri IV in honour of the dauphin, the future Louis XIII. The square is a beautiful, quiet, tree-filled area, just secret enough to be mostly tourist-free, and it's surrounded by elegant cafes and thirty-two identical brick and stone houses.
