WDS6 Alco Locomotives engine and compressor or any rotary components need alignment work. Alignment work is essential for locomotive and reasons are following:
• Proper alignment of compressor shaft with the locomotive engine drive shaft can reduce vibration, significantly improve life of bearings & associated parts and prevent seal leakage.
• Alignment work need expertise and instruments needed to achieve precision alignment.
• Tolerances of less than 1 to 1.5 thou is required for cylindrical and lateral alignment of both flanges
