If you're not someone who has ever had to use a wheelchair while traveling then it's most likely that you've never had to consider some of the inconveniences and outright problems booking and staying in an accessible room can cause. 9 times out of 10 there's always a problem! For myself, usually having to do with shower access.

In this video I review a place that is basically the complete opposite of most hotels. I take you through my room and show you what they did right, the few things they did wrong, and a lot of things that would take the room from great to amazing for a disabled, wheelchair using, visitor.

Description from IG:

My family and I use to frequently
make weekend trips to Yosemite National Park here in California. In 2022 a small handful of us decided to go back. Just outside of the park is the small town of Mariposa. In that little town is an inn called 5th Street Inn. This is where I found the best
wheelchair adapted room l've ever rented before in all my life!

I'd say 99% of the hotels, motels, and inns l've stayed in before always have at least one or two issues with their accessible rooms that can make the stay a little more difficult for me. But I could see where it would make someone with less mobility and/or upper body strength than myself, practically unable
to function in the same accessible room. I've tried to point out these issues before with Christian love and charity and with mixed reactions.

I think many places fear a lawsuit, which isn't my intention. I merely want them to consider other wheelchair users, the elderly, and
persons with disabilities before some vicious lawyer sues them for not being ADA compliant. Especially small mom and pop places that can have their livelihoods destroyed by one person's bad experience.

5th Street Inn had nearly zero issues and was an excellent experience. The people running it were so accommodating and genuinely
cared about all I pointed out in the video. If you've ever been curious about what a bad wheelchair accessible hotel room looks like
watch the video and then imagine the opposite of what they do here
