First impressions and patching with the Physical Synthesis Cicada and my 104hp Modular Synth. The patch is minimal so that I can focus on what is going on. Feeding into one dual amp of Cicada is a Neutron Sound Dust of Time stereo oscillator being seq by the Five12 Vector (using the thru keyboard). The metal bridge to the wood soundboard is then fed into an Earthquaker Device Afterneath. The Dust of Time's internal VCA is controlled by internal LFOs and Fussers with basic saw waves and a harmonic wavetable morphing back and forth. So the sound source is pulsating some rich sound into the Cicada to start with. There is some panning from the stereo oscillator too.
The sound of this patch is for those who enjoy subtle changing dark tones. More videos to come but right off the bat, the Cicada processing the rich harmonics is impressive. Playing the Cicada is gratifying. Even though Physical Synthesis sent me this to try out, I hesitated to connect with the device. One patch later, I get it. I'll make more patches to explain what I am getting, but I am enchanted for now.
