UHD Stoke on Trent to Piccadilly in a Northern Railway Class 323. We follow the Trent and Mersey Canal for the first part of the journey until it leaves us at Kidsgrove, stained by iron oxide deposits from Harecastle Tunnel. Then out into the Cheshire countryside at 90 mph along this LNWR route. See the effects of not applying the handbrake properly when parking beside the railway and learn how the Ansaldo signalling project of the early 2000s never came to be but left us with a fine legacy of five mechanical lever signal boxes. It’s really nice clear footage for the best part of an hour.
