Want to know the best places to eat Pad Kaprao in Bangkok? I've got you covered. Saying THE BEST PAD KAPRAO would be ridiculous, there are literally thousands of stalls selling the unofficial national dish across Bangkok. What I can give you are MY PERSONAL FAVOURITES to put you on the right track to the perfect pad kaprao.

Today I want to show you 7 of my favourite pad kaprao shops across Bangkok so that you can get this amazing Thai street food classic no matter where you are in the city.

#1 Khao Klom Kaprao:

First we headed to Khao Klom Kaprao for some 29 baht - £0.84 / $0.94 Pad Kaprao which was unreal for the price. It’s even cheaper if you don’t get an egg at 29 baht

#2 Original Kaphrao กะเพราแท้ 1993

Next we headed to Original Kaphrao กะเพราแท้ 1993 for some 89 baht - £2.09 / $2.48 Prawn Pad Kaprao which was unbelievable for the price given the 6 massive prawns in the dish. It’s even cheaper if you don’t get an egg at 79 baht

#3 Ped Mark

Next over to the Ekamai district of Bangkok to check out ‪@MarkWiens‬ restaurant, Phed Mark (เผ็ดมาร์ค) and I brought another YouTube legend with me, the one and only ‪@PaddyDoyle.‬

The Pad Kaprao served here is a little different than you might be used to due to the high heat cooking and less sauce used. The resulting dish is drier than you may be used to, which you may or may not prefer. I love it this way!

#4 ยายเฉื่อย by MommyMeaw

Next we headed to ยายเฉื่อย by MommyMeaw for some 50 baht Pad Kaprao which was unreal for the price. It's actually one of the best pad kaprao I've eaten in Bangkok this year. I was joined by the legend that is ‪@EllisWR‬

#5 Pad Kaprao - ร้านอาหารตามสั่งหน้าปั้ม

This may actually be my favourite on the list just for how unique the kaprao is here! Wutthakat Road by Talat Phlu is where we're at and it's pretty spectacular!

#6 Suki Rod Det

(no longer a truck but they are still there on a motorbike)

Can you think of anything better than a couple on the back of a pick up truck whipping up plate after plate of incredible Thai Street food classics like Crispy Pork Pad Kaprao. The team at Suki Rod Det by Wutthakat BTS station in Bangkok are doing just that. The Pad Krapao moo krob here is amazing but the Suki Haeng (dry Sukiyaki) is a bundle of absolute charred perfection. Khao Pad (fried rice) is also wildly popular here with the locals.

This is Bangkok done properly people! Not many people know Wutthakat but it's near Talat Phlu and is an amazing up and coming little Thai street food area in Bangkok.

#7 Basil Gypsy

Chef Ple at Gypsy Basil (กะเพรายิปซี) has just moved from the back of a truck to a new, permanent residence but is still smashing out the same level of intense wok burning mastery that he's always done!

My name’s Gary and I’ve been living in Bangkok for the past five plus years and travelling Thailand for over ten. I’m obsessed with Thai street food and it’s that obsession that led me to start this YouTube channel. I want to share my favourite hidden spots in Bangkok and the rest of Thailand so you can fall in love with authentic, local Thai food as much as I have!

If you love seeing off the beaten path, non-touristy, local life and authentic local life in Bangkok and Thailand then this is the channel for you. If go go bars on the Sukhumvit Road are more your thing (I’m not judging) then maybe not!
