It's tournament time again! What a fun weekend with a lot of great people! First off, thank you Stan and everyone else who made this tournament possible. It was a great event and I hope it's something that continues for years to come.

The papio tournament was held at Kualoa Beach Park on the windward side of Oahu. Majority of the crew camped at the campsites which must have been a good time, however, I didn't have any camping gear so I just arrived at 7am when the gate opened. The tournament was so much fun! It was cool exploring new areas and meeting so many new people. It was a great turnout with many competitors of all ages. ‪@DSfishingHI‬ absolutely cleaned up, catching the biggest papio, and the biggest overall fish with a 34lb Ulua which just so happened to be 1lb bigger than mine haha! However, the tournament rules stated that an angler can only win one category so he chose 1st place in the papio category which was a brand new Garmin 74cv. Thankfully Lawrence was merciful and let me have the biggest overall category so I ended up winning a Hobie Ama Kit.

My first day on the water was exciting. I've never experienced action like that before all in one spot. That area must have been loaded with big Ulua and Kahala because every single one of my jigging rods and my bait rod got smoked and broken off. After getting destroyed 3 times back to back to back, I retied and was finally able to land one of those monsters. My Ulua weighed in at 32.5lbs. Once i got back to shore, I ended up giving my fish away to a family who was camping who were very excited.

Day two was pretty slow in terms of big fish. I only hooked into one decent fish and lost him. Opelu were around both days but no strikes on the second day. I did manage to pick up a Ta'ape, To'au and Roi on the jig, with the Roi and To'au on the micro jigs.

All in all it was a great tournament and I look forward to next year!
