Shepherd’s pie is a classic comfort food from UK and Ireland that is made of cooked minced topped with mashed potato.

Ingredients

50 ml olive oil
2 tbsp butter
1 k minced lamb
6 garlic cloves , chopped
1 onion , finely chopped
1 rib celery , finely chopped
1 carrot , finely chopped
3/4 tsp or to taste salt
1/2 tsp or to taste crushed peppercorns
15 ml worcestershire sauce
60 ml red wine
3 tbsp tomato paste
1 sprig fresh rosemary
2 sprigs fresh thyme
500 ml beef stock

Mashed Potato

1 k potatoes, peeled and cut into quarters
2 tbsp butter
2 egg yolks
3/4 tsp or to taste salt
1/2 tsp or to taste crushed peppercorns
2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese

Crust

grated parmesan , optional
