So Andrew has planned this out sometime last year, and I thought it would be cool to show up as well, since today was the 10th anniversary of the May 20, 2013 Moore EF-5 tornado, that actually hit the school we were at and injured and killed many people. The tornado had also damaged this unit (siren was replaced with another Modulator). I had got a new microphone so I wanted to test it out and go a little bit of a distance, which is what the original plan was anyways, and I think the audio came out really nice. You could hear a few Thunderbolts across town, a 508 north of here at Little River Park, and occasionally the 2001-DC at Telephone Road and 17th Street, which is right east of this location. We both were expecting the 2T22 around 1,500 ft southwest of here to be a lot louder, but it was barely audible. This Modulator was shockingly loud from being around 700 feet away from it. I hope y’all like the audio and footage, I thought it came out nice.
I hope you all enjoy!
Moore Emergency Management tests the outdoor warning sirens every Saturday @ 12 PM, weather permitting, for 3 minutes in alert. They do test the system in cloud cover but will not test if there is a significant threat of severe weather.
