We spent 3 days backpacking a small but scenic section of the Bruce Trail, with lots of overlooks onto the beautiful turquoise waters of Georgian Bay/Lake Huron. It is one of the most difficult sections of the Bruce Trail because of the rocky limestone terrain of the Niagara Escarpment. We chose to do an out-and-back hike, parking at the Halfway Log Dump trailhead and headed 4km west to Stormhaven on Day 1 then retraced our steps and went a further 7km east to the end at High Dump. We were there in late summer and there were not many mosquitoes or bugs. There is no water along the trail as you are up on the cliffs but at each campsite, you can filter water from the beach.
