A demonstration of a portrait painting, using just the flat side of my pastels. This will create a very painterly effect, contrary to using the tips of the pastel sticks. In this portrait I did not focus so much on they eyes or nose, but on colour temperature and value. A different approach to soft pastel - such a versatile medium.
