Today we are exploring the Abandoned JW Cooper School in Shenandoah Pennsylvania. It was constructed in 1918 to be a school; however the Spanish Flu was running rampent. The building was used as a hospital and morgue to help take the stress off the other hospitals in the area. in 1919, it finally became the Shenandoah High School. Later on in its life, its name was changed to the JW Cooper School. In the 1980s, the school changed from the high school to an elementary school before closing its doors forever in 1994. It went through many owners though the years and the building began to fall apart. The last known owner took on the place in the 2000s and he was the one that was trying to actually save the place. He raised money to have the roof fixed, some windows, etc. He also ran a local food bank in the building. However earlier this year, 2024, part of the building collapsed. It was then condemned and as of this video, has been demolished. I was lucky to get in here to capture the beauty that was left in this School. Join me as we explore the JW Cooper School.
