"Serenade in Blue" is a 1942 big band song composed by Harry Warren, with lyrics written by Mack Gordon. It was introduced in the 1942 film Orchestra Wives by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra.

Billy May wrote the classic Glenn Miller arrangement, complete with a beautiful obbligato by trumpet soloist Bobby Hackett.

Ray Conniff sent an invoice, and a chart, to Harry James on December 27, 1951. James recorded the tune for the Columbia album "Soft Lights and Sweet Trumpet." He recorded it again for MGM for the album "The Solid Gold Trumpet of Harry James" on November 21, 1961.

The Conniff arrangement features not only Harry's solo trumpet, but also his powerful lead trumpet. The sax section also is features Corky Corcoran's lead tenor.
