Avery Marz, a stroke survivor, had a stroke at 17 years old while a highly-coveted freshman playing Division I basketball at St. Joseph's University. Marz struggled in several ways on and off the court, put on a positive "show" for others, sought solace in her mother, found gratitude, battled panic attacks, resisted therapy, found growth through therapy, returned to the court after three years, and is now in law school.
