A lot of parts are bolted onto the fender shelf. On the driver's side, the fuse box sits atop the fender. On the passenger side, the battery, air intake filter, and coolant reservoir sit atop the fender. Needless to say, there are a lot of bolts holding this car part to the frame and to make it even more fun, the hood hinge is attached to the fender!

In order to take off the headlight, you have to partially remove the front bumper. That is just an example of the complication in these GMC trucks. We tried to include everything in the video without skipping any steps. You'll need the standard socket wrench with varying sizes, screwdriver -flat head, panel clip pliers, torque-bits screw, and a friend to help.

DIRECTIONS:
Start off with taking the front engine cover off by removing the plastic pins. Do your best not to misplace these pins, they can be $1-3 per pin. Remove the support bar from the fender and top firewall. Remove the fuse box, it is secured with three 10mm bolts. The last bolts are behind the fuse box underneath the wires. It's a bit hard to find but accessible. In front of the fuse box, there is an extra plate for a battery. Don't completely remove the fuse box, as you would need to disconnect the wires. That is just unnecessary work. The fuse box is also held on by plastic clips attached to the fender shelf but you can remove that when you finally take the fender off. There is an extra plate to place a batter in front of the fuse box, remove the plate. There is a smaller support bar attached to the fender and front frame of the car. Just remove one bolt and loosen the other to swivel it around. Next up is removing the headlight. There are 2 top bolts and 4 bolts behind the bumper. We didn't realize the headlight had the 3 hidden bolts so we skipped the step until we removed the bumper. Un-clipping the hood latch cables is pretty easy. You don't have to remove the fender liner right away. You can just detach from the bumper, remove the fender and probably have an easier time taking the liner off. We kept it on the vehicle and removed it separately in case it was hiding any bolts or clips. The fender line has a combination of screws, push pins, and bolts. Removing the bumper is important because it will expose the front bolts. Remove the top 7 bolts, 10mm each. There are 3 bolts on the bottom of the bumper. You may have to wedge your flat-head screwdriver for the top of the bumper but it should pop off easily. Don't remove the grille, just pop the tabs behind the bumper on both ends. Be careful not to scratch the bottom of the bumper. Going back to the headlight, remove the bottom 2 bolts, the top bolt, and the last bolt near the bumper bracket. The headlight should slide out when you're done but you may have to pry it out, don't forget to unplug the wires. The next step is removing the fender bolts, closest to the windshield and behind the headlight. We did forget a bolt near the windshield, don't be like us. The hood bracket is attached to the fender, so be sure to prop your hood up when you remove this bolt. There is one bolt on the bottom leg of the fender on the undercarriage. Lastly, there are 2 bolts just past the door. We hope that wasn't too difficult and it helped you out.
