I want to start by saying this: It is exceedingly rare and incredibly humbling to film another wedding videographer’s wedding. It’s a huge compliment because it shows that not only do they like your work, but they trust you enough to capture their special day. That was the case with Lyndon and Brittany’s wedding.
Having worked with Lyndon as a second shooter on several occasions, I approached their wedding with equal parts excitement and nervousness. The nerves came from knowing that Lyndon, being a videographer himself, would have a keen eye for detail and quality. He’s told me on multiple occasions about how much he “loves watching wedding films.” No pressure, right? At one point, I caught him checking his audio levels on his lapel mic and he even offered some great insight into the best camera placement for the ceremony—something that was incredibly helpful. But then there was the excitement, because I knew he’d be open to creative ideas, and likely prepped Brittany to just say "yes" to anything I suggested.
Fortunately, I had nothing to be nervous about. Lyndon and Brittany were such a laid-back and fun couple to spend the day with. The excitement proved to be well-founded, as the three of us managed to capture some truly spectacular footage together. One of Lyndon’s good friends, Paul, even jumped in to help me get some amazing shots with a second camera.
Their wedding took place in a beautiful tent just outside the city limits, which allowed us to make a quick drive to the local beach. We managed to get some stunning shots, and right at the perfect moment, a flock of birds flew overhead as Lyndon and Brittany stood together. That shot was pure magic, something you couldn’t replicate if you tried (unless, of course, I learn how to tame birds, but I won’t hold my breath on that).
Another standout moment was when Brittany changed dresses right before their reception entrance, just in time for their choreographed first dance as a married couple. The love in the room was palpable, especially as their wedding party and families came together for speeches that were both hilarious and heartfelt.
It was truly a legendary day. Lyndon, thank you for trusting me to capture it, and I wish you both all the best going forward!
