Catch Can Showdown: Budget vs. Premium – Who Wins? Catch Can and Oil Separator Comparison.

In this video we are taking a look at catch cans and oil seperators, what do they do, how do they function, do they actually work, and do they create any adverse side effects in the engine?

Starting out I'm going to lay out how the PCV system works on a vehicle and how the catch can interacts with it. Then, we are going to do some on vehicle testing with a Banks Idash reading the crankcase pressure of the engine at wide open throttle and at a 15 second hot idle.

Next, I'm going to do some standardized testing of each catch can to check the actual capacity of the can vs the claims by the manufacturer. Finally I am going to test each oil separator to see how well they can separate an oil vapor from the incoming PCV gas.
