Arapaima fishing in Brazil with Central America Fishing! In 2022, Central America Fishing expanded into South America to be able to offer fishing vacations on the Brazilian Amazon. All of these fishing trips start and end in Manaus, which is the capital of the state of Amazonas and the largest city with a population of over two million people.

We are excited to announce that in partnership with our incredible local operator, Acute Angling, we also offer one-day fishing trips for arapaima out of Manaus. Arapaima are one of the largest and hardest fighting fish in the Amazon, but they are actually protected on the main river itself. In an effort to conserve the population from being overfished commercially, the only places you can legally fish for them for sport is on private farms and indigenous reservations.

Located about an hour outside of Manaus, we visited Pastor Odali's 300-acre private farm where he has a series of 14 lakes - and they are FULL of hungry arapaima. This land was originally owned by the Baptist church and the lakes created to commercially raise and sell arapaima, but that project didn't pan out so Pastor Odali took over and made it his home. In a perfect win/win collaboration between Pastor Odali and Acute Angling, all CAF anglers have exclusive access to fish these private lakes. You can fish for them with lures, dead bait, live bait or even try fly fishing for arapaima.

If you are headed south for a fishing vacation in Brazil, it's worth it to add an extra day or two onto your trip so you can check another species off your bucket list and feel the sheer force of a thunderous arapaima headshake. Not only do you have a near-guarantee to catch arapaima, by doing so you help fun Pastor Odali's charitable efforts locally as well as his orphanage in Sao Paolo.
