Last night at the Hill of Uisneach the Bealtaine fire was lit as it has been for thousands of years by the five provinces, Ulster, Leinster, Munster, Connacht and Mide symbolising the country’s emergence from the darkness of Winter into the light of Summer. This year though we are emerging from much more than the Winter. There was an overwhelming comfort in the fire knowing that very soon we will be back to the natural order of things.
