More than 46km steps on the nesting beach of Seaturtle covers 4 main islands from South-east Aru MPA. Met a lot of nests, dolphins, skeleton of whales, crocodiles and event fish barbeque 😁.

As the frontier island in Arafura, it supplies fisheries to the local community and also the bigger boat that is found bright in the night around the MPA. With the characteristics of sloping and shallow water, we need to adapt with the tide schedule and other team site locations.

It was a really amazing experience with a good team, tough and helpful. I am learning more than just a report from 2020. Full appreciation to the satker Aru and the team that working to this remote remarkable island with full of challenge to be addressed not with the single institution. More collaboration needs to support Enu and the rest of the island not to be the sea turtle graveyard but the sanctuary that supports livelihood.

This video is part 1. it covers day 1 -3 of the assessment. Megafauna team covers 15 km of beach in Enu island that part of the core zone of the MPA. The utilization of the resources is still high. We hope the management will be increase to minimize threat of ETP species and the community aware and being part of the management of their area.
