Tesla Inc announced that production of the Cybertruck electric pickup will be pushed back again, to the 1st quarter of 2023. Previously, the production of the Cybertruck was scheduled for late 2021 which was then shifted to the end of 2022, now the production plan has been pushed back again.

Tesla revamped the features and functions of the electric pickup to create an attractive product as competition heated up in the segment. Tesla is expected to make limited production of the Cybertruck in the first quarter of 2023 before increasing production.

Regarding the planned production delay, when confirmed, Tesla has not provided information to explain what happened. Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, actually introduced the Cybertruck in 2019, but this product has not been produced and sold until now.

This condition leaves Tesla behind, considering that car manufacturers such as Ford and Rivian have already launched their own electric pickups. Ford even said in January it would double the annual production capacity of the F-150 Lightning electric pickup to 150 thousand units.

Musk also said he will provide an updated product roadmap on Tesla's January 26, 2022 earnings call. Tesla recently removed references to its production schedule from the Cybertruck order website.

Tesla plans to manufacture the Cybertruck at its plant in Texas, which is expected to start producing Model Y cars earlier this year.
