How did visitors experience Taughannock Falls in the 1860s, during the early years of tourist hotels at this celebrated Finger Lakes waterfall, long before it became a state park? Well, it just so happens that a book was written at the time, “The Falls of Taughannock.” In this episode (229) of Walk in the Park, host Tony Ingraham narrates much of the first chapter of this book, illustrating his narrative with photographs of Taughannock from the 1800s.

Walk in the Park is a public access television series produced and cablecast at PEGASYS Studio (pegasys.webstarts.com) on channel 13 in Ithaca, NY. Produced by Tony Ingraham of Owl Gorge Productions Owlgorge.com.
