alayalam is the primary language in Trivandrum. People also understand Tamil and a bit of English.People In Trivandrum do have a different slang but it is not that drastic as it is shown in movies..There are a lot of tamilians residing in TVM and places like parasala shares border with TN and hence Tamil has influenced the Malayalam of Trivandrum residents..Still TVM has a majority of well educated and working class who does not usually converse in the mentioned slang .So not all TVM residents speak that dialect and it is not worse as shown in movies.Even inside Trivandrum you can hear different slangs depending on region.For eg, parashala side malayalam slang is different from what city people talks which is again different from what kalikavila(tamilnadu border) people talks.For any slang its more about the rhythm, and the usages automatically comes out if its inside you.Trivandrum is home to a lot of Tamils and the easy influence of Tamils has been there historically, because the western Ghats don't separate southern Venad/Travancore from Tamil Nadu.
