On December 2, 2008, Washington Post federal courts reporter Del Wilber gave background information on the Uighur detainees being held at the Guantanamo Bay Detention Center and the next steps in the case.

On Monday, November 24, 2008, Congressional staff were briefed on arguments in Kiyemba v. Bush regarding the release of Uighurs from Guantanamo Bay into the United States, due to the government’s inability, under international law, of repatriating the Uighurs to China. This event was held by the Center for Constitutional Rights in the Rayburn Office Building.
