Notes:
Continuous cell culture is a method of culturing cells where you can add nutrients and remove toxins, used nutrients, cell Biomass.
Continuous cell culture is a complex but advantageous process for industries as it helps in the production of cells on a large scale continuously with constant cell densities and metabolite concentrations.
Continuous cell culture overcomes the disadvantage of the batch to batch variations.
Continuous cell culture process goes on continuously for months and hence drastically reduces the downtime.
Due to the operation in steady-state at constant volume, the size of the bioreactor is not a limitation while culturing a large number of cells as the bioreactor never gets completely filled due to the continuous removal of cell Biomass and used nutrient media.
A constant growth rate is maintained during the continuous cell culture process.
