There's an awful lot of embroidery on my velvet coat, and although I know a little about embroidery - enough to get myself into trouble - I'm no expert.

Enter Gemma Murray, the Studio Manager at the Royal School of Needlework in London, who is here this month to tell us all about
- how the velvet coat might have been embroidered,
- how to go about a project like this today,
- what tools and materials we need
- what stitches and techniques I'll need to use.

We also open up a can of worms about how the colours of the decorative stitching and embroidered flowers on this gorgeous coat might have looked quite different in 1895 or so, when it was new! I'd love to hear what you think in the comments.

Many thanks to everyone at the RSN. I'm very fortunate to have had this opportunity to work with them (although it's not a paid promotion, it's just for fun), and I'm very grateful for their generosity with their time and expertise.

This is a special video and I'm really excited to share it with you.

Love, Cathy x

Thank you, thank you, to everyone who has sent something to me. It is deeply valuable to read your words in your own handwriting and hold them in my hands. It helps me to connect to who you really are, and what you really need from me. I read, enjoy and treasure every one. Thank you.
