In this video, I explore the events surrounding the death of Queen Elizabeth the First, looking at the contemporary sources for the demise of Gloriana and the circumstances of her rapid decline in the privacy of her palace at Richmond. When she died in March of 1603, it was unimaginable that anyone else could sit on the English throne, and the change that ensued was not dissimilar to the change we saw at the death of the second Elizabeth in 2022.
