I made this Unisphere from and old 500 gallon fuel tank and a few cable spools. After setting in place I thought about paint on the equator and I think it will be Blue because that is the equivalent thickness to the height of our atmosphere to scale, like Carl Sagan called it the "Thin blue Line".
